Dear Foster,
Three months old! Time has gone by so
quickly and it becomes obvious to me as we go to visit new friends who were
just born and you look like a giant. You continue to be a delight and I'm
really starting to worry what we're in for when you're older and we get the
payback for having such an easy baby...or perhaps you'll stay joyful and it
will be your future sibling I'll need to worry about. Either way, we're taking
advantage of it now! You have been sleeping soundly for about 9-10 hours a
night and even had two nights this week where you slept a full 12 hours. You
must be very tired from all the growing you’ve been doing. You’re over
15lbs now and gaining rolls and chubs everywhere.
This has been a busy month with your first trip to another
country! OK, so it was Canada, but we still had to catch a ferry and remember your birth certificate so
it was a big step for your dad and me. We were there to visit Aunt Camille to
celebrate her 60th birthday. While there you also got to meet Uncle
Bob and your Uroma! Uroma is Omee’s mom and she was so very excited to get to
hold you. You’re almost as big as she is already!
This month also marked your very first camping trip. We’re so
proud of you for sleeping in a tent like a big boy! You seemed to really like the
fire we had at night too but really didn’t like the smoke so it was a
short-lived interest. Daddy and I are both really excited to take you on more
camping trips and one day to hike into a camp spot and teach you how to pee in
the woods.
Finally, you also got into a pool for the very first time this month. You did love it, but you didn't hate it either! You seemed very focused the entire time and didn't cry, even when we dunked you under water. What a champ!
You’ve graduated from sometimes getting one hand in your mouth to
being a pro at shoving both in at once. This means that you’re also getting
more drool on yourself and other things. Somehow you make it cute but I’d
really prefer if you keep the wetness to a minimum. I certainly hope it doesn’t
mean that you’re starting to get teeth early. I would assume you’d be crankier
if it did. You’re still a big fan of your blankets but are getting better and
pulling them up over your face this month and enjoying games of peek-a-boo. You’re
also getting better at taking a bottle (thank God!) which means that I can be
away from you for longer periods of time now…not that it’s easy. This coming
weekend you’ll have two nights with Nana and Grandpa and Omee and Papa Choo
Choo while Mommy and Daddy celebrate Daddy’s upcoming graduation.
You’re absolute favorite thing in the world right now though is
Lion. He hangs from your playmat and it doesn’t matter if you just saw him or
not, he always brings a HUGE smile to your face. Poor monkey, elephant and
giraffe definitely play second fiddle in your eyes. It’s so fun to watch you
laugh and talk to him like he’s your best friend.
I’m getting closer and closer to having to go back to work. I like
the idea of having my day broken into chunks other than eat, play, nap, repeat
but I’m really going to miss the laid back schedule that you and I have set up
and I’m really really going to miss spending so much time with you during the
day. We’re lucky that you’ll be spending your time with Nana and Omee but I can’t
help but be jealous that I won’t be the one with whom you’ll spend a majority
of your waking hours. I am excited about the potential for you to spend some
more time with Daddy too while he looks for a job after finishing school.
This next year has a lot of changes in store for us!
All my love,
Mom

Mom
