MINE!

I hate it. Makes me cringe every time. Foster has recently had a spat of saying 'MINE!' while trying to wrestle something away from someone...or no one...just shouting it. It was really bad for awhile but we ignored it, or told him we didn't like that word and then stopped engaging. That seemed to work. But if he's hanging out with Sable, or another kid who is even the slightest bit after what Foster has then he slips right back into it. With Sable it seems like he thinks of it more of a game, especially since she's in the midst of a "I want that'', or "I need that" phase (which drives me equally crazy). He'll make sure she wants what he has, and then he'll hold it up over her head where she can't reach and shout that word.

I'm trying to not let it get to me. I know there will be worse phases and really, he's usually pretty good about it now. I'll consider it a test of my patience...or I'll try to consider it that until I hear him say it again. Then I'll likely forget and just feel my face getting hot.
