Five Month Letter

Dear Shep,

It's hard to believe you're already five months old! This has been a big month for you.

You've started commuting with me and Foster to work in the mornings and getting to spend a lot more time with your grandparents. So far me going back to work has been a breeze which has been an awesome combination of a flexible project, super helpful childcare, and two kids who make things pretty easy on me. Thanks for that! You spend Mondays and Tuesdays with Omee and ChuChu, Wednesdays with Daddy and Thursdays and Fridays with Nana and Grandpa.

You're starting to be awake a lot more during the day. You're really only taking about three naps at this point and spend the rest of your time playing with toys and trying to make your way to the kitties. You think Parkour and Nimbus are about the best things ever and Parkour thinks you're pretty cool too. In fact, I have to watch him sometimes because he likes to try and sleep on your face. You spend a good chunk of your awake time with both thumbs in your mouth and have taken to chewing on pretty much anything you can get your hands on.

I've started thinking about feeding you solids because you are definitely interested anytime someone is eating around you. It's so strange to think that you're already ready for that stage, time is flying by.

You joined us for a lot of fun outings this month. We started off by driving down to Packwood to stay with Uncle Spencer in his cabin. Shortly after we arrived the power went out so we spent the weekend by candlelight and heated by wood stove. You didn't mind at all and loved watching the fire.

Then we spent a weekend out on Double Island to enjoy Canadian Thanksgiving with friends. It was so fun to have you and Foster both in a little cabin for a few nights on our own and then also get to spend time with friends in the main lodge for dinners and out on the water for boat rides. You absolutely loved having all the attention from such a big group and everyone kept saying what an easy and happy baby you were all weekend. Thanks for making us look good.

October also brought your first pumpkin patch and Halloween too of course. Shortly after taking pictures of you and Foster together you did a face plant in the mud at the pumpkin patch...you were less than impressed in our parenting skills. For Halloween you dressed up as a horse (or a giraffe) and were the trusty steed to Foster's knight. Daddy was Foster's squire and I was the queen. You essentially slept through your first round of trick-or-treating while Foster went door to door collecting candy.

We love getting to see your personality shining through more and more each month. You bring so much joy to our lives and I can't wait for you and Foster to start playing together more and more.

Lots of love,
Mom
