Dear Shep,
Mr. Shep, Sheppy, Sheperd, Sheperoni. Holy cow, how you've changed in just one year. You've gone from a baby to a kid (as you'll tell us, 'I'm just a kid') but you still love to cuddle your momma. You insist on sleeping in our bed every night even though you're willing to go down for bed in your crib.
You are getting more interested in what Foster is up to, which also means you're starting to upset him more now that you can get around and get into his stuff. You're a pretty chill kid though and are pretty good about doing your own thing when it's clear that Foster isn't interested in playing.
This was a big year of change for you. Just as you were learning to walk and get around on your own, we up and moved you into a big new house with STAIRS! Stairs everywhere! Upstairs, downstairs, outside stairs that didn't even have railings. So much fun (and trouble) to get into. The new house also meant you finally had a room. Rather than living in the dining room you got to move into Foster's room in the new house.
You are FULL of spunk and charm and love to flirt and tease. I think it's great for Foster to have a brother who is so focused on the fun in life.
By the time Christmas rolled around you were fully mobile and keeping up with Foster.
As you got more independent this year, you started to show us that you are the 'tough kid' too. Bumps and bruises just didn't seem to phase you much. You'd just shake it off and keep going. Once you were climbing at the playground and fell down to the ground. I picked you up and expected that you'd want me to hold you, but you immediately insisted I put you right back where you fell from so you could try again. Keep it up buddy.
In the Spring we headed down to San Diego for our annual 'friends trip'. We played it safe after last year's trip to Mexico had everyone puking. We had an amazing time this year, lounging by the pool (you really wanted to swim on your own), going to Disneyland, and visiting with Aunt Kris and Uncle Mark. You and Foster had bubble wands which you loved to play with while waiting in lines at Disneyland. The funniest part about the entire trip though was that you REFUSED to take off your orange, down vest. Even in 90 degree weather, you had to have it on. It was a sign of things to come I'm sure.
I can't wait to get to know you more. We love you SO much.
Momma, Daddy and Foster
